Dr. Joana Larry-Afutu

Joana Larry-Afutu, PhD. is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with a background in Human Resource Development. She has several years’ experience working with soldiers and dependents in providing psychosocial support through education, research, needs assessment and intervention building. She has also worked with several national and international organizations in the provision of psychosocial support for various critical organizational and personal life incidences on both micro and macro levels.

 

She is currently a lecturer in the University of Ghana with affiliations to Kofi Annan International Peace Keeping Training Center. In these Institutions, she has additional experiences in research, learning design and development in gray areas (eg; Military Psychology, Mental Health and Psychosocial Support course and material development), training design and implementation.

On Employee Assistance Programs, she initiated and implemented targeted programs for some key organizations in Ghana, focusing on individual and family wellbeing at the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

 

Dr. Larry-Afutu has held key positions as an active member of the Ghana Psychological Association (GPA). She continues to be very resourceful in her current position of responsibility and has championed a number of GPA’s volunteering efforts at providing psycho-social support to groups and individuals in emergent and crisis situations like the COVID-19 pandemic and Bank Crisis in Ghana.
