
Peter Mintir Amadu is a licensed Clinical Health Psychologist registered with the Ghana Psychology Council (GPC), a Lecturer, Researcher, and passionate advocate for Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Services. He serves as a Lecturer in the Mental Health Department at the School of Medicine, University for Development Studies (UDS), and as a Visiting Psychologist at the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH). He is the National Vice President of the Ghana Psychological Association (GPA), having previously served as the North Zonal Representative. He is also the Founder of the first private psychology clinic in Northern Ghana — the Total Life Enhancement Centre Ghana (TOLECGH) — a milestone that reflects his pioneering spirit and commitment to expanding access to mental health care in the region. In addition, he serves as a Trainer in Mental Health and Psychological Support Services (MHPSS) and as a Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Service Resource Person for Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) across Northern Ghana.
His research interests span Mental Health Literacy, Youth Mental Health, Women's Mental Health, Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV), and Substance Abuse Prevention. These areas reflect his deep concern for vulnerable and underserved populations. Peter's extensive work in mental health advocacy, therapy, prison rehabilitation, peacebuilding, SGBV survivor support, ghetto youth empowerment, and substance abuse prevention has earned him numerous awards and accolades. These recognitions affirm his pioneering leadership, innovative interventions, and unwavering commitment to transforming mental health policy, practice, and public awareness in Northern Ghana and beyond — leaving a lasting impact on individuals and communities alike.
